Purpose
The aim of the KMF Small Grants Project is to award grants of up to $350 maximum for elementary, middle and high school teachers to research, develop, create and teach classroom curriculum related to the international field of public health and/or the field of human service. The Small Grant may be used to fund partially or entirely a new or continuing project.
The application process for the 2008 KMF Small Grants is now closed. Check back in December for the results!
Application Timeline and Process
- August 15 : Application packet available for download on the KMF website.
- October 15: Completed application submitted as one MSWord document in an email attachment.
- November 15: Recipients contacted.
- December 1: Notification to all applicants via email; Small Grants recipients announced on the KMF website.
Criteria
- The Small Grant is available to elementary, middle and high school teachers.
- Applicants should prepare a thoughtful, detailed, and well-researched project on the international field of public health and/or the field of human service.
- The Small Grant must be utilized to offset the cost of researching, developing, creating, and/or teaching the proposed project.
- Applicants must provide a strong proposal for implementing the proposed project in his or her classroom.
- Applicants should identify and discuss all state educational standards that the proposed project satisfies.
Recipient Responsibilities
- Recipients of the Small Grant must successfully complete the proposed project within the specified period of time.
- A short report on what this project accomplished must be submitted upon its completion. In addition, this report must describe how the spending of the Small Grant money fulfilled the proposed project.
- The Small Grant is administered by reimbursement after completion of the project. Reimbursement is based on the application budget, for which itemized receipts subsequently must be provided.
Verification Process
In order to verify an applicant’s candidacy for the Small Grant, KMF reserves the right to verify that the applicant is in good standing as a full-time teacher at the participating school; to withhold reimbursement for project expenses until they are adequately documented by itemized receipts; and to verify that the grant awards are administered directly to the recipient.
Selection Process
An evaluation panel composed of KMF directors, officers, and volunteers will collectively select the Small Grant recipients. Public announcement of the scholarship winner will be made privately to all recipients, then publicly via the KMF website and in KMF promotional activities.
